Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia is the Executive Governor of Benue State, Nigeria, having assumed office on May 29, 2023. A respected Catholic priest and public servant, he brings a unique blend of spiritual leadership, academic excellence, and administrative vision to governance.

Born on May 15, 1966, in Vandeikya Local Government Area of Benue State, Governor Alia began his early education in Gboko before proceeding to seminary training and higher studies in theology and ethics. He holds advanced degrees from institutions including Fordham University and Duquesne University in the United States, reflecting a strong foundation in education, counseling, and ethical leadership.

Ordained as a Catholic priest in 1990, he served in various pastoral and humanitarian roles, gaining recognition for his commitment to service, compassion, and community development. His transition into public office was driven by a vision to improve livelihoods and restore confidence in governance across Benue State.

As Governor, he is focused on economic growth, agricultural development, infrastructure renewal, and social welfare. His administration emphasizes job creation, food security, education, and improved public service delivery, while also addressing security challenges and promoting peace within communities.
